Hey everyone,

Just when you thought our fight to keep the dam was over --

It was brought to my attention recently that the city of Mount Holly has been receiving letters and emails from quite a few Eastampton residents asking for the removal of the dam. They have stated that they think repairing the structure is a waste of taxpayer money and have threatened a class action lawsuit should Mount Holly proceed along this course. It is feared that they may attempt to block any possible funding.

It would be a great help if we would start a letter and email campaign of our own. A quick letter to Kathy Hoffman voicing your support for the dam repairs would help in our cause. You should include some reasons for your support as well as your home address.

Some key points you might want to include in your letter:

• A thank you for their cooperation so far

• Your support for the dam repair

• Your concerns about the Rancocas Creek ecosystem

• Your first hand observations from this spring's “open gate” experiment

• We will be losing kayaking and canoeing activities

• A break in Burlington County Park’s canoe trail

• The dam and current water levels have been in existence for over 100 years--

• The Eastampton residents purchased their homes with the dam in place

• Removing the dam is no guarantee against flooding
